Save Chinatown! is a diverse group of community residents, small business owners and activists working towards a shared goal: preserving Honolulu's Chinatown, one of the oldest and most remarkable cultural centers in Hawaii, from the encroachment of corporate developers.

We are committed to ensuring that our homes and businesses maintain their unique sense of place, for the benefit of locals and visitors alike, for generations to come.*

*This page was set up as part of a project called FoundFutures. The Save Chinatown coalition does not exist (yet). It is intended to support a distributed installation in Honolulu's Chinatown simulating a nascent resistance to the rapid influx of new development in the neighborhood, including chain stores, theme restaurants, and high-end condominiums.

FoundFutures is a multimedia collaborative project based on the idea that a wider range of possible futures should be made visible and thinkable to people in their everyday lives. It aims to inject futures into the present; provoking thought, conversation, and action by creating and distributing art, artifacts, images, performances and other media embodying stories and scenarios about possible worlds.
